This is the ICM 1/48 MkIX Spitfire. I would suggest it is the best model I have built to date. It was a lot of work, but well worth the effort.

ICM 1/48 MkIX Spitfire. No matter how much I look at that wing shape I can't get tired of it. The figures are also from ICM. This is my 2nd attempt at painting figures. I don't know how people get them looking so much better than mine.

I have always liked this angle looking at the Spitfire. This is an early MkIX, you can tell by the early type cannon bulges, also the markings. This group was one of the first squadrons to fly the MkIX. The aerial wire is a piece of streched sprue, the heated to tention it.

Perhaps one of the hardest photos to get of a spitfire model is the cockpit. The kit instrument panel gives the basics, I have added the needles to the dials to give an added detail. It took me a while to do, but I am happy with the result.

I have also drilled the exhausts out which was a job in itself.

Port side view of a great aircraft. I enjoyed modeling this aircraft. It was a lot of work, but well worth it. ICM have done a great job of it. It is reported to be the most accurate 1/48 MkIX on the market. Tamiyas offering is also supposed to be quite good too. Perhaps I will be able to compare them one day

A birds eye view of the diorama. I built this for Christmas for my Grandfather. He got me into modeling aircraft many years ago. Which also then led to learning to fly, which I am still studying as a career. He has a lot to answer for. I am starting to get the hang of weathering with an airbrush, I have used Humbrol enamels all over.

Showing a little engine detail. This unfortunatly is the issue with this kitset, the engine is a single stage supercharger like in the MkV spitfire, it should be a twin stage, as this is a MkIX. Also, once the engine was secured in place I discovered the actual size of the engine was physically too small. It looks the part and unless mentioned most people wouldn't notice the difference. The exhaust stacks I drilled out to add realism, the kit plastic is very easy to work with.

This image the light was a little hard to work with, but still I like this picture. Both the figures and aircraft are from ICM and are 1/48.

This is an over view of the 1/48 diorama for a Trumpeter Condor I made for a friend a few months ago. He liked it, I hope you do too. I was still experimenting with things like weathering, washes, and drybrushing, hence why this diorama looks like it's just been washed. One must live and learn.

This the first of 2 views. This one focusing on the tamiya car. And ICM figures

The 2nd of 2 views. This one focusing on the Trumpeter 1/48 Condor. From this view one can appreciate the size of the aircraft. The model was also very large

View from left rear. The bags and other accessorys are from Tamiya. Figures from ICM. The Condor is 1/48 Trumpeter. To see more pictures scroll down as it is also further down the page

A minor adjustment done before flight. I'm not quite sure what type, but the figure fitted quite well here.

view of pilot getting kitted up. I think the ladder in the background might be a little small. I'm sure they can make do. Figures used are ICM 1/48 German figures. This was my first real attempt with painting figures.
